Taylor & Robert's Wedding at Chatfield Farms, Littleton, CO
What a party! Taylor & Robert were so laid back on their big day. Their priorities were simple and to the point: get married & party with friends and family. Their planners, The Gardner Effect, went above and beyond to help their day go as smoothly and with as much style as possible.
We love working at Chatfield Farms! It's a huge vibrant green space with so many great photo locations. During the middle of the day there are plenty of shaded areas which is important for keeping everyone comfortable as well as providing softer light for portraits. Bridges, water, flowers, mountains, fields, forests, old farm buildings... it really has it all.
The ceremony was set in a big green meadow, and you can see the Colorado foothills in the background. Even though it can be tricky, we always prefer backlit scenes, and the sun was shining right behind the ceremony how we like it. We can get some fun lens flare and people are evenly lit with a nice rim light surrounding them which makes them pop out of the background.
Dinner was beautiful with soft pink and gold colors and minimalist organic accents. Even the s'mores party favors seemed to blend into the tables with their golden crust. Natural light shined into the open barn pavilion, which faded into the warm colors of sunset while everyone ate and drank.
After dinner the dance party moved outside onto the deck. There is something awesome about dancing under a huge tree lit up with string lights. We really like the challenge and the rewards of lighting up an outdoor space at night. It can be difficult, but everything pops out of that deep black background and creates striking images.
Taylor and Robert were sent off in style with a sparkler lit exit. Another one of our favorite traditions for photography! Using big light gathering lenses and modern cameras we're able to capture photos lit purely with sparkler light, and those are almost always our favorite versus when we use a flash.
We had a blast with this group of people and can't wait to work at Denver Botanical Gardens Chatfield Farms again!
