As Colorado architects, Christine & Matt appreciate a great structure, and their wedding day was filled with great structures. They came to us with certain photos in mind, as their reception would back up to Denver's Civic Center Park in the heart of the city. They chose to have their reception at the historic McNichols Civic Center Building, built in 1909 as a home for the Carnegie Library, with a long colonnade and Corinthian columns in Greek Revival style. They put on quite the day for their families and friends, who flew in from all corners of the earth, and even Ohio.
And onto St. Augustine's Orthodox Church for a Coptic Orthodox wedding ceremony, the first we've ever photographed as Colorado wedding photographers. It's a beautiful ceremony steeped in symbolism. But first, we caught Matt outside being goofy with his friends.
This was the first time we've seen a parent give away the bride at the entrance of the church. The groom waits for the bride at the door of the church, "As Adam was created first and then Eve was brought to him by God." It was also, of course, Christine & Matt's first peek at each other that day. One of us was inside the church and one of us was outside to capture these challenging moments.
Below, Matt & Christine receive vestments blessed by the priest, which signify that they are becoming the rulers of their new kingdom -- their home.
And can we take a moment to fully appreciate this adorable tandem bicycle they brought along?
So what happens next is another first for us: an aerial yoga performance by the groom's sister and her partner. These guys wowed the whole room.
And away they go!
Congratulations, Christine & Matt!
